Early last year we were approached by an existing customer whose current vehicle telematics were not going to be compatible when the mobile networks switched off 3G, they asked if we could help find a replacement – never one to turn down an opportunity we approached Daisy.
Luckily, a Vehicle Telematics solution was just in the process of being added to the product range. We have never sold telematics before, so this was going to be a bit of a learning curve!
The Daisy team helped with discovery to find out exactly what the customer required and then worked to put together a competitive pricing structure for the customer – we closed a 36 month deal, for 190 units of Webfleet Dashcams and a Link system to monitor GPS and Gyro data. The dashcam uses AI to notify the driver with a visual warning if they are performing illegal activities behind the wheel – eating, drinking, smoking, not wearing seatbelt etc, if activities persist a video is sent back to base for review and the driver can receive training. The Link system collates Gyro data from the vehicle and allows them to monitor harsh braking, harsh cornering and other driving habits – the Webfleet software grades each driver so you can easily identify those whose driving needs to be looked into. The hardware also gives us the future ability to upgrade their subscriptions to include other monitoring e.g. fuel efficiency and EV range, so there is further opportunity to up sell.
The telematics team tell me it was probably the most complicated deal to start out with, but we have learnt loads and the Daisy team made it super easy handling all the technical questions.
